washable masks for Washington farms

OUR
STORY
This mutual aid initiative consists of classroom teachers, public school administrators, and arts educators from across Washington state, who are on a mission to collect and distribute masks for the migrant communities we work within and care deeply about. We believe that this community deserves support, dignity, and advocacy.
Migrant workers are essential workers who are exposed to high-risk conditions due to lack of PPE masks being made available to them. Every meal we eat is made possible by farm workers who work regardless of heat, cold, rain, snow, and now a pandemic.
We invite you to join us in our work to protect this much-needed community by making masks - we have provided a sample pattern. Additional ways to support and give thanks can be found here.
10 masks for every household
Tie masks with simple nose design

Adult and child's masks are welcome
Migrant workers work long hours (over 12 hours in heavy harvest times) and wear multiple layers as sun protection in the summer. Use two layers of cotton, rectangular style with ties. These masks need to be washable and wearable with various sun gear (sunglasses, hats, etc.) as summer arrives. Please do not include clamps or material that cinch, pinch or conform at the nose in these masks.
A mix of sizes (adult and child) are appreciated, please see the below chart for assistance with pattern adjustments.
